The Birds and Bees Connection has developed a new model of parent/child courses that celebrate the transition between childhood and adolescence. Our unique courses create a safe, engaging environment where parent and child come together to openly discuss the physical and emotional changes leading towards and including adolescence.
At the Birds and Bees Connection, we help to create a solid foundation whereby parents feel empowered talking with their children and the children feels a sense of confidence leading to an increase of self esteem and positive body image. By educating both parent and child in an engaging, comfortable manner, our goal is to shatter myths and taboos thereby insuring the child’s ability to make healthy safe choices in the future.
Leslie Dixon, Executive Director/Founder
Leslie Dixon, Founder and Executive Director of The Birds and Bees Connection, is the mother of two grown children and has been a school nurse for more than twenty years. She holds a degree in nursing and has taught Family Life, Life Science, Health Science, and Sexual Health Education at several schools in Orange and Los Angeles County.
Her unique comprehensive parent-child sexuality courses have been taught since the early nineties throughout Orange and Los Angeles County and are currently being offered to the Girl Scout Council of Orange County, selected school districts, and youth and religious organizations.
Ms. Dixon has been interviewed and quoted in the Orange County Register, and OC Family Magazine. She recently was a featured speaker at the PTA State Convention, Laguna Beach School Districts Speakers Bureau, and the O.C. Department of Education.
